We're in Utah

10-23-15:  Hello again.  We spent a few weeks with our son Eric, Marlo, and our great little grandsons, Lawson, Ethan, and Logan in West Jordan, UT. before heading south.  Had a wonderful time with them and we are now hitting a few state and national parks here in Utah before heading back up to West Jordan for Thanksgiving.  We stopped at Painted Rocks Campground in Yuba State Park a few hours south of Salt Lake City.  A beaufiful campground on a nice reservoir.  Like most reservoirs, this one needs some water.  Spent a week here enjoying the surrounding area.  We met a father and his two sons, John, Jason, and Josh, at the campground and share a BBQ with them.  Wonderful folks.  We made a trip over to Ephraim and Manti Utah and saw many historic buildings.  The Manti temple was beautiful.  After leaving Yuba State Park we were headed for Lake Powell, but the weather wasn't looking very good there so we made a detour and ended up near St. George.  Nice having that flexibility.  We are now spending a couple weeks at Sand Hollow State Park near Hurricane, UT.  The campground is great with full hook ups and the lake is within walking distance.  It's beautiful for kayaking, swimming, and fishing.  We made a day trip over to Zion National Park and hiked some of the canyons.  You can spend a month here and never get enough hiking in.  We'll make another trip over to Zion next week and do some more hiking.  I love my America The Beautiful Pass.  Got us into the park free ($30) and campsites are half price in Zion National Park ($10).  Next year we'll look at camping right in the park.  Next week we head to the Grand Canyon for a week of exploration.  Attached are a few pictures we would like to share of our travels in Utah to date.   Enjoy.....

Our Grandson Ethan, bottom right corner, invited his
Grandma and Grandpa to go through the corn maze with him.
We didn't get lost and came out first.
Grandma and Ethan checking off another station.
While grandma was shopping at a DI, Ethan and I hit the toy department.
Eric and Marlo love Halloween.  Nice job guys.
We saw these petroglyphs high up on a rock cliff at
Painted Rocks Campground, Yuba State Park.  Cool...

Our campsite at Painted Rocks Campground.
For $20 a night water, electric, and dump station.  Very nice.
Manti Temple in Manti, UT.  Beautiful.
Another Manti Temple shot with Roberta at edge of reflection pool.
Traveling over the pass going from Yuba State Park
to St. George.  Nothing on roads thank the Lord.
Campsite at Sand Hollow State Park.  Very nice campground.
Picture taken from near the lake.  Beautiful lake.
Daily walk across Sand Hollow reservoir dam.  It's
1 mile across, so we had a 2.5 mile walk each morning.
Entrance to Zion National Park
Checkerboard mountain in background.  We hiked up to the
base of the mountain after taking this picture.
Love you Roberta
Postcard of love.
Can you tell we're in Zion National Park?
Found these neat water pools up one of the canyons we hiked.
If it was any hotter, we might have taken advantage of a quick dip.
Did he or didn't he take the plunge???
Only Bruce will tell.
Found this neat little water fall as we walked around the
lake at our campground.
Crossing a little stream without slipping on the algae.
Roberta and Trent take a quick timeout next to this
nice littel water fall.
Having our own little tailgater.  Crackers, cheese, and sausage.
Saw this hoodoo up on the side of a mountain and hiked to it.
