Hello all. We finally got to a RV park where I have good internet service and will try to catch up on our blog since leaving Fairbanks, AK. Having a wonderful trip. We left Fairbanks and spent several days in Denali. Saw lots of moose and babies, dell sheep, caribou, eagles galore, and much other wildlife, but no bear sightings. We really were hoping to see some grizzly. From Denali we made it to Anchorage. Went to church with dear friends from Colorado Springs who now live in Eagle, AK. There wasn't a whole lot to do in Anchorage. From Anchorage we went to Ninilchik which is between Homer and Kenai. It was a good central location for adventuring out. The men went halibut fishing out of Homer and caught their limit. Freezer full of halibut. In Homer we also met Susan's sister-in-law from California. She was an excellent tour guide for one of our visits to Homer. Homer is a beautiful little village. We drove north about 45 miles to hike along the Russian River and hopefully see some grizzly feeding on salmon. As we were hiking to where the salmon were going up a falls we crossed paths with a grizzly. He came up trail that intersected the trail we were on and stopped to look at us. 15-18 feet away and we had a standoff. Roberta and I were in front and I raised my hands to speek softly to the bear to let him know we were there. Bear maise in one hand and camera clicking away in the other and having a conversation with him all at one time. He looked like he wanted to come our way but stopped and soon as we raised our arms and began speaking to him. It was exciting and scary all at the same time. We still laugh about the experience. We finally got to see a grizzly. Close up and personal. From Ninilchik we drove to Seward, AK. Seward was a great little town. The drive was unbelievable. So beautiful. In Seward we took a cruise in the Kenai Fyords and saw whale feeding, otters sunning themselves, and magnificent glaciers. It was an awesome experience all day long. I will post pictures up to this point of our trip. We left Valdez today and I will post pictures of our stay there as soon as we can download them. This has been a trip of a lifetime. The scenery is magnificent every day of our travels. The Alaskan roads are terrible. I will never say another bad thing about the roads in the lower 48. Enjoy the pictures.
