Galveston, TX - 3 Dec thru 3 Jan

We left Colorado Spring on December 1st, looking forward to getting down to Galveston, TX. and warmer weather.  On our way down we stopped in Waco, TX. to visit Magnolia Farms.  Unfortunately, we didn't run into Skip and Joanna Gaines while there.  We enjoy their show and it was an interesting place to visit.  Their salted carmel corn was delicious.   Everything else was a bit expensive.  The Galveston weather has not been very good since arriving here.  We've had snow, rain, and fog much of the first couple weeks.  Temperatures have been in the 50s and 60s most days.  We did have a couple sunny days in the 70s.  We have another week here and then we're off to Canyon Lake, TX. from 3 January thru 3 February.  We're hoping the weather at Canyon Lake is a little nicer.

Stopped in Waco, TX. to visit Magnolia Farms.

We are at the Silos.

Enjoying our travels together.

Left Colorado to get away from the cold weather.
Yes, it snowed here on Galveston Island.

Roberta in her happy place, walking the beaches.

Roberta and Trent enjoying a beautiful day on the beach.

Roberta in the far distance looking for sea shells.

The beaches were never crowded.  We always had them pretty much all to ourselves.

One of the best weather days we had.  Normally it was fog or rain.

Came out to the beach after going to church to enjoy the sun.

Pretty view of the Gulf of New Mexico.

Driving right on the beach was a benefit of Galveston Island.

Caught this nice fish on one of those cold and rainy days.
Not exactly sure what it is.  Someone said it's a sheepshead.

21" Red Drum.  Couple nice fillets off this guy.

Caught a lot of these too.  Not sure what to call it.

Here's what you get when you leave trash out for very long.
He wasn't afraid of us either.

Merry Christmas from the beach

Minnesota - Passing of a Great Man

While in Oregon this past summer my sweet wife, Roberta, told me one evening that I needed to plan a visit to Lake City Minnesota to see my parents.  My dad has been in a nursing home for a year and it had been six months since my last visit.  That very evening I scheduled my plane flights for October 20-27.  On October 26, 2017, my dad passed away.  You always hope that you're there when one of your parents passes away so they're not alone.  Only God knows when He'll call one of his children home and I have no doubt that my sweet wife was inspired to tell me to schedule a visit home.  I also know that He had a hand in making sure I scheduled the week of October 20th to be home.  It was nice being there with my dad the week prior to his passing.  He knew I was there and though he could not talk, we communicated other ways.  I'm grateful to have had that time with him.  The funeral was a beautiful celebration of his life.  I know he was welcomed home with much celebration as well.  He will always be close to our hearts until we are together again.  The following pictures are in remembrance of that special guy, my dad, Glenn Joseph Dwelle II.

The following were pictures taken during our visit to Minnesota.  My four wonderful children were able to attend their grandpa's funeral.  We had a great time being together.

West Jordan Utah and Zion National Park

Arrived at Hill AFB Utah on Sept. 29th and plan on being here for 9 days.  Our son Eric and his family live 45 minutes away in West Jordan and we plan to spend as much time with our 3 grandsons as possible.  We had Lawson and Ethan with us over the weekend and had a good time.  October 10th we head to Sand Hollow State Park near St. George, UT.  Our daughter Jennifer and two granddaughters plan to come out and join us for a week down there.  Roberta's sister Susan will also join up with us.  Should be a fun week hiking Zion National Park, seeing some petroglyphs, and some kayaking.  Life is good.

Lawson and Ethan at a Super Hero show.  They certainly are my heros.

Colorado and Utah cousins having a good time together.
